The coalition government has announced relief for medically unfit RTC employees by deciding to provide them with alternative employment. Official orders have been issued to ensure that employees who are unable to continue their duties due to medical reasons are not left without support.
The decision applies to employees who became medically unfit on or after January 1, 2020, following the merger of RTC with the government. Earlier, only drivers were eligible for alternative jobs, but the new policy extends this benefit to drivers, conductors, and all other RTC staff.
Employees declared medically unfit under 21 categories will be considered for alternative roles such as conductor, record tracer, assistant mechanic, or worker. If they are not eligible for positions within RTC, they will be accommodated in other government departments based on their qualifications through district collectors. Those not eligible for any post will be granted additional monetary benefits. The government has also instructed officials to ensure enhanced financial benefits for employees opting for voluntary retirement due to medical unfitness.
