The Andhra Pradesh government is making efforts to establish an aircraft manufacturing hub in the state, with Anantapur district being considered as the preferred location. Adani Aerospace has signed an agreement with Brazil-based aircraft manufacturer Embraer to set up a production center in India. Embraer is renowned for manufacturing commercial, defense, and aircraft components. The company is likely to establish a unit for small and medium passenger aircraft in India, and Andhra Pradesh is competing with Gujarat for the project. The state government has already expressed its readiness to provide the necessary land, with potential investments estimated to be in thousands of crores. Officials expect final clarity on the project by next month.
The government plans to develop hundreds of acres in Anantapur, conveniently located near Bengaluru, as the aircraft manufacturing hub. Bengaluru-based Saral Aviations has received approval to set up an electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft production unit with a 1,300 crore investment, building a six-seater aircraft factory called ‘Sky Factory’ across 500 acres. The project aims to make air taxis operational by 2029. Nearby vacant lands are also being proposed for allocation to this hub. Integrating 8,844 acres from the Lepakshi Knowledge Hub near Kodikonda Checkpost, the government intends to develop a 20,000-acre industrial park. Land acquisition is in progress, and authorities note the proximity of these sites to national highways and Bengaluru Devanahalli International Airport as advantageous. Company representatives have confirmed that land allocation will be prioritized based on project requirements.
