An Air India flight bound for Mumbai from Delhi encountered an unexpected technical issue shortly after takeoff early Monday morning. Pilots noticed a sudden drop in engine oil pressure in the right-side engine, which soon fell to zero.
Acting swiftly and prioritizing passenger safety, the flight crew decided to return to Delhi. The aircraft made a safe landing at the same airport from which it had departed, avoiding any risk to passengers.
According to reports, the Boeing aircraft operating as Flight AI887 took off at around 3:20 a.m. The airline later confirmed that the decision was taken in line with established safety protocols. Technical inspections of the aircraft are currently underway, and alternate travel arrangements are being made for passengers.
