The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has removed Raghav Chadha from his position as the party's Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha. The party has decided to appoint MP Ashok Mittal from Punjab in his place. Accordingly, the party has written a letter to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat, requesting that time no longer be allocated to Chadha under their party quota during House proceedings.
It is understood that Chadha's distancing himself from party activities—and his failure to respond to party programs—are the reasons behind this decision. However, Ashok Mittal stated that the change in the Deputy Leader's position is a routine process and that there are no specific underlying reasons for it. He also noted that there is no clarity regarding reports suggesting that Chadha might join another political party.
