Police have registered a case against YouTuber Anvesh for making controversial remarks about Hindu deities and have intensified the investigation. As part of the probe, police are collecting complete information related to Anvesh’s social media activities. In this connection, they have sent an official letter to the management of Instagram, seeking details of his user ID. Police are currently awaiting a response from Instagram.
Recently, Anvesh, who is reportedly staying abroad, made objectionable comments about Hindu deities, which triggered widespread outrage. Strong criticism has emerged not only on social media but also from various Hindu organisations. Several groups have demanded his immediate arrest and have called for steps to bring him back to India if necessary.
In this matter, film actress and BJP leader Karate Kalyani filed a complaint at the Panjagutta Police Station. Based on her complaint, police registered a case against Anvesh under BNS Sections 352, 79, and 299, along with Section 67 of the Information Technology Act. The case is currently under investigation within the jurisdiction of the Panjagutta Police Station.
Meanwhile, Anvesh had released a video criticising comments made by actor Shivaji regarding the attire of heroines. While the video initially appeared to be a general criticism, it later included objectionable remarks about Sita and Draupadi, who are revered as sacred figures by Hindus. These comments sparked strong backlash. Not only Hindu organisations but also ordinary netizens strongly condemned the video.
Following this incident, additional complaints have reportedly been filed against Anvesh across the state. Considering the seriousness of the case, police are said to be conducting a comprehensive investigation from all angles. Various sections of society are demanding strict action against remarks made on social media that hurt religious sentiments.
