Directed by Harish Shankar, Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Ustaad Bhagat Singh’ was released worldwide yesterday amid huge expectations. After the blockbuster success of ‘Gabbar Singh’, the collaboration between Power Star Pawan Kalyan and Harish Shankar created massive buzz even before release. The film, which hit screens with early morning shows, received mixed responses from audiences. Many viewers felt that the story and screenplay were routine, leading to disappointment among a section of the audience. As a result, the film failed to meet expectations at the box office on its opening day. Trade reports also suggest that the simultaneous release of the Bollywood film ‘Dhurandhar 2’ had an impact on its collections.
According to available information, the film collected around ₹48 crore gross worldwide on its first day. As per online data, it earned ₹31.86 crore across India through 5,359 shows, with an overall occupancy of 68.01%. In Andhra Pradesh, the film showed steady performance driven by Pawan Kalyan’s star power, collecting ₹19.40 crore with an occupancy of 68.35%.
However, in Telangana, the film failed to register strong openings, collecting only ₹9.10 crore. Trade analysts attribute this largely to the strong response for the Hindi film ‘Dhurandhar 2’. Even in overseas markets, despite high expectations, the film did not make a significant impact. Overall, its first-day performance is being described by industry circles as underwhelming.
