Punjabi beauty Rakul Preet Singh, once a leading actress in Tollywood, continues to enjoy full freedom in her career even after her marriage to producer-actor Jackky Bhagnani. Known for her fitness and bold fashion choices, Rakul has only become more glamorous in recent times, often seen in stylish photoshoots, bikinis, and swimwear. Earlier, she had also acted confidently in romantic scenes with senior actors like Ajay Devgn in De De Pyaar De, which boosted her popularity further.
With Rakul’s glamour factor in mind, expectations were high for the sequel, De De Pyaar De 2. However, the film has not generated the kind of advance bookings the makers expected. The romantic-comedy, set to release this weekend, began its bookings on a dull note. Trade sources estimate that the film may collect only around ₹5–6 crore on its opening day, which is significantly lower than usual for an Ajay Devgn starrer.
Industry experts feel the lack of strong promotions and minimal hype before release are major reasons for the weak opening. Even though audiences expected good chemistry and romantic scenes between Rakul and the lead actor, the sequel has failed to attract enough initial interest. While multiplex bookings in metro cities seem decent, the response from single-screen theatres has been disappointing, raising concerns about the film’s early performance.
There are also reports that the presence of R. Madhavan hasn’t added much buzz to the project. The makers seemed to rely too heavily on the success of the first part instead of building new hype for the sequel. Analysts believe that unless the film receives positive word of mouth after release—especially from family and youth audiences—the collections may not improve significantly. With recent trends favoring biopics and high-action films, lighter entertainers like De De Pyaar De are starting off slow, and the sequel appears to be facing the same challenge.
