Samir Anjaan Reveals Why Working with A.R. Rahman Was His Biggest Challenge

Renowned lyricist Samir Anjaan has revealed that working with Oscar and Grammy-winning music composer A.R. Rahman was one of the most challenging experiences of his career. The lyricist, who holds a Guinness World Record for writing thousands of songs in Bollywood, recently made the revelation, sparking interest in film circles.

Samir shared these details on the podcast Game Changers: The Music Series, hosted by Komal Nahta. He recalled that he had worked with Rahman on only one film, The Legend of Bhagat Singh. Samir explained that listening to the songs from the film would help audiences understand the difficulty he faced while writing them.

“Some verses had to be taken from the actual statements of the martyrs and then transformed into lyrics. It was truly a difficult process,” he said.However, Samir added that when he looks back on the experience today, it feels like a fond and amusing memory. A prominent lyricist in the Hindi film industry since the 1990s, Samir Anjaan holds a Guinness World Record for writing the highest number of film songs.
