Veteran Bollywood actress Mandakini has once again spoken about the controversy surrounding an old photograph of her with Dawood Ibrahim. In a recent interview, she clarified that she had travelled to Dubai for a show and later went to watch a cricket match, where the photograph was taken. Mandakini said she was not invited by Dawood and that, as an actor, she would often meet and interact with many people at public events. She added that she did not anticipate that a single photograph would lead to such widespread speculation.
Mandakini said the controversy caused significant damage to her film career. She recalled that she had denied the rumours at the time, but the controversy continued. She also said she was unaware of alleged underworld funding in Bollywood during the 1980s and came to know about such issues later through films and media reports. Mandakini made her Bollywood debut with Raj Kapoor’s 1985 film Ram Teri Ganga Maili, which became a major success and established her as a prominent actress. She also appeared in Telugu films including Simhasanam and Bhargava Ramudu.
