The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in New Delhi, in collaboration with the Korean Film Council and the Honorary Consulate General of Korea in Hyderabad, organized the third Korean Film Festival at L. V. Prasad Film Labs, Banjara Hills. The event offered free entry for all age groups and showcased Korean films along with cultural experiences such as Hanbok trials, calligraphy, and face painting. A major highlight of this year’s festival was the presence of acclaimed Korean director Yoo In-shik.
During his interactive session with fans, Yoo In-shik said this was his first visit to India and shared that he loved Hyderabad biryani. He expressed happiness over the strong interest Indian viewers have shown in his dramas and stated that he hopes to create films for Indian, especially Telugu, audiences in the future. The Korean Acting Ambassador also conveyed hopes for deeper cultural and entertainment collaborations between India and Korea.
Honorary Consul General of Korea Suresh Chukkapalli said that India and Korea share many cultural similarities and highlighted the massive Indian viewership for Korean dramas. He noted that Hyderabad already has world-class filmmaking infrastructure, with films like Baahubali and RRR being made here, and added that Korean makers would find excellent production facilities in the city. As filming costs in Korea continue to rise, he said future Indo-Korean collaborations in films and web projects could likely take shape in Hyderabad.
