

Oscar-winning music composer M.M. Keeravani has confirmed a key production update for Rajamouli’s much-awaited film Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu. The veteran composer revealed that he plans to begin work on the film’s background score in September and complete it by January. The update reinforces the previously announced release date of April 7, 2027, giving fans fresh confidence that the ambitious project is progressing on schedule.
Varanasi is being mounted on a reported budget of over ₹1,300 crore, making it one of the biggest Indian films ever produced. Mahesh Babu will reportedly appear in dual roles as Rudra and Lord Rama, while Priyanka is expected to play Mandakini. The film is produced by K.L. Narayana and S.S. Karthikeya, with a story by Vijayendra Prasad, dialogues by Deva Katta and music by M.M. Keeravani. The teaser has already created nationwide buzz ahead of its release.
