Actress Shruti Haasan has opened up about motherhood and her personal experiences. She revealed that she got her periods at the age of 13 and suffered from severe abdominal pain during menstruation. She recalled experiencing vomiting, fainting and even hospitalisation because of the pain. She was later diagnosed with PCOS and said that doctors once told her she might not be able to become a mother in the future. However, after consulting another doctor, she learnt that several options are available for women with PCOS who wish to embrace motherhood. She also learnt about egg freezing and said she may either have a child or consider adoption when she is ready for motherhood.
Shruti also shared her views on marriage and relationships. While she likes the idea of marriage, she believes the institution should not be reduced to merely signing a document. According to her, a strong relationship is built when two people continue to choose, love and respect each other every day. She said she does not personally prefer spending large amounts of money on lavish wedding celebrations and believes helping people in need can bring greater satisfaction. She added that partners should not try to dominate each other and that mutual respect is essential for a happy relationship. Shruti also revealed that she had once reached the stage of considering marriage but does not want to be confined by traditional expectations.
