In September, four films — Little Hearts, Mirai, Kishkindhapuri, and OG — brought fresh energy to the Tollywood box office. These movies consistently helped theaters witness good occupancy. Now, October has also started off on a strong note, making buyers and distributors extremely happy. With OG ticket prices returning to normal in Andhra Pradesh from today, theaters are seeing houseful shows again — not only from repeat audiences but also from those waiting to catch it on the big screen. Almost all major centers are showing the same trend, which is a very positive sign on its 11th day.
As for Kantara Chapter 1, there’s no need for an introduction — the craze is enormous. In several areas, audience demand is exceeding the number of available shows, with many people having to return disappointed. Especially in smaller centers with fewer theaters, the situation has become more intense. Even after replacing Idli Kottu, Sunny Sanskari, and Tulasi Kumari, the screens aren’t enough to meet Kantara’s demand. Meanwhile, OG continues to perform well in its second week with positive word of mouth, leaving no scope to reduce its shows. Still, distributors are trying to allocate as many shows as possible for Kantara, expecting massive Sunday revenues.
Interestingly, Mirai, despite being close to its OTT release, is still managing to attract audiences with limited shows — selling over 13,000 tickets in the past 24 hours, which is no small feat. Maintaining such stability even after 20 days is quite rare. Little Hearts too continues to draw young audiences wherever it’s playing.
Overall, theater owners are thrilled to see such vibrant activity week after week — something that hasn’t been seen in months. One prominent distributor even commented that it’s been a while since the industry looked this lively. Hopefully, this positive trend continues.
