The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR in connection with the death of Disha Salian, the former manager of late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The FIR mentions Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray and actors Rhea Chakraborty, Dino Morea and Sooraj Pancholi, among others, whose roles are to be examined during the investigation. The case covers allegations including criminal conspiracy, murder, gang rape and suppression or destruction of evidence. Importantly, CBI officials have clarified that the people named in the FIR are not being treated as accused at this stage.
The development comes after the Bombay High Court ordered a CBI investigation into Salian’s death earlier this month. Salian died on June 8, 2020, after falling from a residential building in Mumbai’s Malad area. The Mumbai Police had earlier treated the death as a suicide. Her father, Satish Salian, later approached the High Court alleging that there were serious discrepancies in the investigation and seeking a fresh probe. The High Court directed the CBI to investigate while making it clear that no individual should be treated as an accused unless sufficient material emerges during the investigation.
