The controversy surrounding Deepika Padukone’s exit from director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming film Spirit has resurfaced. The film stars Prabhas in the lead role, with Triptii Dimri as the female lead. Recently, producer Pranay Reddy Vanga alleged that Deepika had demanded a high remuneration along with a 10% share of the film’s profits, bringing the old controversy back into the spotlight.
Amid the renewed debate, a social media user questioned why profit-sharing demands are criticised when made by female actors, while similar demands from male actors often receive less scrutiny. The post also described the controversy as a result of patriarchal attitudes. Deepika Padukone reportedly liked the post, prompting netizens to speculate that she may agree with the sentiment expressed in it.
