HYDRA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath inspected the site of the seven-storey building collapse in Anjaiah Nagar, Gachibowli, and reviewed the damaged Jayadarshini Apartments. He assessed the possible causes of the incident and directed officials to keep people away from the affected area until the debris is cleared and the structural stability of the building is examined by experts.
Ranganath said action would be taken against buildings found to be unsafe or constructed in violation of regulations. He revealed that four more allegedly illegal buildings had been identified in the area and that demolition work would begin shortly. He said several buildings had been constructed with seven or eight floors on small plots and were being used as hostels. Experts will inspect the damaged apartment, and if necessary, Block C may also be demolished. He urged the residents to cooperate with the authorities.
