Senior IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar, a 2016 batch officer serving as Director of MSME in Karnataka’s Department of Industries and Commerce, has reportedly been missing since August 20. Family members and colleagues have been unable to contact him. Preliminary information suggests that he had booked a flight to Delhi and was last traced at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru.
Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge confirmed that the government was aware of the officer’s disappearance and said all communication with him had stopped. Authorities are examining evidence from the airport and further action will be taken after the investigation. Reports have speculated about his previous tenure at the Karnataka Public Service Commission, but officials have not confirmed any connection between those developments and his disappearance.
