Bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela’s team has reportedly demanded compensation of ₹7,000 crore from an AI company, alleging violation of her personality rights. The team accused the Los Angeles-based AI firm of using Urvashi’s name, photographs and videos for commercial purposes without prior consent. “Develop your AI company and build your brand value, but do not bring Urvashi’s name into your business without permission,” her team said.
AI company CEO Sheeraz Hasan denied the allegations and questioned the basis of such demands without a proper understanding of the technology. He urged Urvashi to learn more about artificial intelligence and its future applications in the entertainment industry. Hasan said AI could enable everything from digitally recreating performances involving deceased actors to providing dubbing in multiple languages, adding that the ongoing technological transformation cannot be stopped by such disputes.
