The U.S. government has stepped up its investigation into alleged H-1B visa fraud as part of the Trump administration's efforts to tighten immigration enforcement. Speaking at an event in Wisconsin, Vice President JD Vance said the Department of Labor has already initiated investigations and issued notices to individuals and organizations suspected of violating H-1B visa regulations.
Vance alleged that some large companies and intermediaries have been exploiting the H-1B visa program by hiring foreign workers at lower wages, affecting employment opportunities for American citizens. He stressed that the administration's priority is to protect taxpayers' money, prevent visa abuse, and ensure that U.S. jobs benefit Americans. Indians continue to account for the largest share of H-1B visa holders, with around 730,000 workers and nearly 1.28 million people, including family members, currently residing in the United States under the program.
