President Droupadi Murmu has issued an ordinance increasing the sanctioned strength of judges in the Supreme Court. With this decision, the total number of judges, including the Chief Justice of India, has been increased from 34 to 38.
The move is aimed at reducing the growing burden of pending cases and ensuring faster disposal of matters in the apex court. The decision is expected to strengthen the efficiency of the judicial system in the country.
