

The Transport and Police departments are conducting joint inspections in Tirupati to strengthen road safety during the Brahmotsavam celebrations. With a large number of devotees expected to travel to the city, officials are focusing on vehicle safety and compliance with transport regulations.
Officials are keeping a close watch on contract carriage buses and conducting inspections under the ‘Stop and Wash’ programme at toll gates. The teams are checking vehicles, drivers, safety standards and required documents to ensure safer transportation for devotees.
District Transport Officer Murali Mohan said that 61 contract carriage buses had been inspected over the past ten days. A total of ₹6 lakh in fines was collected from vehicles found violating regulations. Officials said inspections will continue throughout the Brahmotsavam period.
