Resolve OU Hostel Issues - Ramchander Rao

BJP Telangana president N. Ramchander Rao has urged the state government to immediately address the hostel accommodation issues faced by students at Osmania University and allow Ganesh idol immersions at Hussain Sagar as part of the traditional celebrations. During his visit to several university hostels amid the ongoing Ganesh festival, Rao said students needed better accommodation facilities. He called for immediate repairs to old hostel buildings and construction of modern facilities in place of structures that have deteriorated.

Rao also objected to the reported shifting of students from the ‘E’ Hostel to the ‘C’ Hostel without adequate alternative arrangements and urged the government to release the ₹1,000 crore promised for Osmania University’s development. On Ganesh immersion, he said Hussain Sagar has traditionally been a major venue for the city’s celebrations and called for permission to continue immersions there this year. He also urged the authorities to ensure adequate cranes, sanitation, security and other infrastructure for the event.
