President Seeks Support for Iran

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has urged India—the current chair of the BRICS bloc—to act independently and intervene to halt the acts of aggression being perpetrated against Iran. He also proposed the establishment of a regional security framework in West Asia, free from foreign interference. He discussed this matter with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the phone.

During the conversation, the Iranian President condemned the United States, asserting that it is conducting military strikes against his country under the pretext of nuclear arms control. He affirmed that his nation is opposed to the development of nuclear weapons, noting that the late Supreme Leader Khamenei had also strictly opposed this issue. He further explained that there are religious and administrative directives in place prohibiting any steps toward the advancement of nuclear weaponry.

For his part, Prime Minister Modi condemned the attacks targeting critical infrastructure in West Asia. He emphasized the need to uphold freedom of navigation and called for measures to ensure the security of maritime routes. Additionally, he expressed his hope for the prevalence of peace and stability on the occasion of the festival of Ramadan.
