The Karnataka Legislative Council elections resulted in a major setback for the BJP and JD(S), as cross voting by several MLAs helped the ruling Congress secure five out of seven seats. The election outcome highlighted internal cracks within the opposition alliance.
According to BJP sources, three of its MLAs and eight from JD(S) voted in favor of Congress. However, JD(S) leaders claimed that four of their MLAs and seven BJP legislators cross-voted. The incident has triggered a political debate over party loyalty and internal discipline.
