The Petroleum Ministry has introduced a significant change to the rules governing domestic LPG usage. According to the revised guidelines, consumers who already have a Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connection will no longer be eligible to receive domestic LPG cylinders. The move is aimed at streamlining fuel distribution and ensuring that subsidized LPG cylinders are available primarily for households that do not have access to PNG connections.
As per the updated rule, households that currently hold both PNG and LPG connections must surrender their LPG connection, and further refills will not be permitted. The amendment has been made under the Essential Commodities Act and will officially come into effect once it is published in the official gazette. The decision is expected to improve fuel management and prevent duplication of benefits in the domestic cooking gas system.
