A key breakthrough has been achieved in the Musi River development project in Telangana. The Defence Ministry has approved the transfer of 83 acres of land for the ambitious Gandhi Sarovar project and issued a working permission order. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy welcomed the decision and thanked Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and military officials, stating that it marks a significant milestone in the rejuvenation of the Musi River.
Under the EVI (Equivalent Value Infrastructure) model, the land located in Hyderabad’s Golkonda and surrounding areas will be transferred for the project, which aims to develop the river basin into a sustainable ecological and cultural hub. The project envisions a 200-acre development including a massive Gandhi statue, educational and cultural centers, museums, and meditation spaces. Officials are preparing for joint land surveys and plan to finalize an MoU within 15–20 days.
