Tensions between Iran and the United States have escalated once again in West Asia, with both sides carrying out attacks since the beginning of the week. The US reportedly targeted several locations in Iran during overnight strikes. In one incident, missile debris fell on a house where a wedding ceremony was taking place, killing four people, including a child, and injuring around 50 others. Iran responded with retaliatory strikes targeting US-linked assets in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan.
Meanwhile, Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei issued a strong warning to the United States, saying Iranian forces would deliver an unforgettable lesson to Washington. It was his first response since the latest hostilities began. IRGC spokesperson Hossein Mohebi also warned that the US would regret its decision to launch the attacks. The escalation comes after the US accused Iran of preparing to lay naval mines again in key shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz and subsequently targeted Iranian rocket launch sites.
