Madhavan, who impressed audiences as Ajay Sanyal, a character inspired by Ajit Doval, in ‘Dhurandhar’, recently appeared as legendary inventor G.D. Naidu in ‘GDN’. Directed by Krishnakumar, the film hit theatres in August and is now gearing up for its digital premiere. ‘GDN’ will begin streaming on Netflix from September 4. The film also features Dushara Vijayan, Priyamani, Jayaram and Sathyaraj in key roles.
Born into a farming family in Coimbatore, G.D. Naidu discontinued his formal education after the third grade but remained deeply curious about learning and innovation. After purchasing a motorcycle he had seen during the British era, he studied its mechanism and went on to create several inventions and tools. His achievements included the development of an electric motor in India. His growing reputation, however, drew opposition from British officials and some industrialists, who attempted to trouble him through increased taxes and other measures. The film explores how Naidu overcame these challenges.
