Traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) has been completely suspended to facilitate slope stabilisation and road restoration work on the vulnerable Udhampur-Chenani stretch near Ladha and Samroli in Jammu and Kashmir. Authorities took the decision as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of commuters and workers engaged in restoration activities.
Officials said continuous rainfall since July 18 has triggered landslides, mudslides, and falling debris along the highway, making travel unsafe. Motorists have been advised to avoid the route and strictly follow official traffic advisories until normal traffic movement is restored.
