HYDRAA has strengthened its lake protection measures by installing an advanced CCTV surveillance system around lakes to prevent encroachments and illegal dumping activities. Nearly 900 cameras have been installed and connected to the central server at the HYDRAA office, enabling officials to continuously monitor activities around water bodies in real time.
HYDRAA Commissioner A. V. Ranganath inaugurated the surveillance system on Monday. Officials stated that the new monitoring network would help detect illegal filling of lakes with soil, dumping of construction debris, and encroachment attempts. The CCTV feeds are also linked to the Integrated Command and Control Centre at Banjara Hills, ensuring stronger monitoring and quicker response from Lake Protection Teams. HYDRAA Additional Director Varla Papaiah and Additional Commissioner R. Sudarshan also participated in the launch event.
