MPs Seek Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in Every District of Andhra Pradesh

Rajya Sabha MP Lingamaneni Ramesh and Kakinada MP Tangella Uday Srinivas met Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi in New Delhi on Tuesday and submitted a representation seeking the establishment of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) in every district of Andhra Pradesh. The MPs urged the Centre to sanction JNVs in all districts, including those created during the recent district reorganisation, and requested that admissions and academic activities be introduced in phases from the 2027–28 academic year. They pointed out that district reorganisation has left some areas without Navodaya schools, limiting access to quality education for talented students from rural backgrounds.

The MPs said Education Minister Nara Lokesh had already submitted proposals to the Centre regarding the establishment of Navodaya schools in the state. They also explained that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan are keen on expanding quality educational opportunities for students in rural areas. The Andhra Pradesh government is reportedly prepared to provide land free of cost, temporary buildings and necessary infrastructure as per Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti norms. The MPs requested a joint review meeting involving the Union Education Ministry, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, the Andhra Pradesh government and MPs during the ongoing Parliament Monsoon Session, saying that such a meeting could help expedite the decision. They maintained that establishing JNVs across all districts would support the objectives of NEP 2020 and Viksit Bharat 2047.
