A shutdown called in Jharkhand continued to affect normal activity, with BJP workers staging protests on the streets of Ranchi. Tensions escalated after clashes broke out between BJP workers and police. Protesters also attempted to burn tyres on the roads while raising slogans against the state government.
The BJP launched the protests in response to the alleged lathi charge on students and demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Party workers also raised slogans against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during the demonstrations. Police were deployed in sensitive areas to maintain law and order.
