Tamil Nadu Assembly Opposes NEET, FCRA Bills

The Tamil Nadu Assembly has passed separate resolutions opposing the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) system and the FCRA Amendment Bill 2026. The resolution on NEET reiterated the state’s demand for medical admissions to be based on Class 12 marks instead of a common entrance examination.

The Tamil Nadu government argued that NEET places rural and economically weaker students at a disadvantage, particularly because many students cannot afford expensive private coaching. It also raised concerns over alleged irregularities and transparency in the examination process. A separate resolution was passed against the FCRA Amendment Bill 2026, adding to the state’s objections to the proposed changes.
