Genetic Testing for Cancer Patients Introduced in Andhra Pradesh for the First Time

Andhra Pradesh is set to introduce genetic testing for cancer patients for the first time in the state. A dedicated genetic testing laboratory has been established at the Natco Cancer Centre at Government General Hospital (GGH) in Guntur. Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav is scheduled to inaugurate the facility the day after tomorrow. The tests will help identify genetic changes associated with cancer and support doctors in determining treatment approaches based on individual patient profiles.

The state is also considering a proposal to establish a full-fledged genetic testing centre at the Amaravati Quantum Valley in the future, officials said. The initiative aims to bring advanced technology into cancer diagnosis and treatment and improve access to specialised medical services. The new laboratory at Guntur is expected to strengthen the state’s cancer-care infrastructure and support more personalised treatment.
