Chittoor Task Force police detected a major red sanders stockpile at Bondalawada village in Anantapur district. Three persons, including trader Jayaram, were arrested and 109 red sanders logs worth around Rs.2 crore were seized. Police also confiscated a car belonging to the accused.
The gang was reportedly planning to transport the logs to Delhi, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu when the Task Force conducted the raid. Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan directed forest officials to take strict action against the masterminds behind red sanders smuggling. He stated that red sanders smuggling has reduced by 70 percent due to the measures taken by the coalition government.
