Child Marriage Sparks Concern in Hyderabad

An attempted child marriage has raised concern in Hyderabad after a 42-year-old Arab man reportedly arrived from Saudi Arabia on the 2nd of this month to marry a 17-year-old girl. The wedding arrangements were allegedly being made late at night with the assistance of intermediaries. Following a complaint from an Anganwadi teacher, police registered a case on the 3rd of this month.

Responding to the complaint, Rajendranagar police intervened and stopped the proposed marriage. The man and the alleged intermediaries were taken to the police station for further inquiry.
