Bay Low Pressure Strengthens.. Heavy Rain Alert for Andhra Pradesh

A low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is intensifying as it moves west-northwestwards towards the North Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha coasts. According to the India Meteorological Department, the system is expected to strengthen into a depression on September 21 and further intensify into a deep depression on September 22. It is likely to reach the west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal near the North Andhra Pradesh–South Odisha coasts around September 23.

The weather system is expected to bring heavy rainfall to several parts of Andhra Pradesh, with the IMD warning of very heavy rainfall on September 22 and extremely heavy rainfall on September 23 and 24 in Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Strong winds and rough sea conditions are also likely along the coast. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea, while those already at sea have been urged to return to the coast.
