Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu participated in the silver jubilee celebrations of Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital in Hyderabad and recalled the inspiring journey behind its establishment. He said the hospital was founded based on the vision of N.T. Rama Rao after Basavatarakam suffered from cancer at a time when specialized treatment facilities were scarce. Chandrababu stated that the institution was created with the objective of ensuring that no patient loses their life due to a lack of access to cancer treatment and quality healthcare.
The Chief Minister praised the contributions of Nandamuri Balakrishna, who currently serves as the Chairman of the institution, for transforming the hospital into one of the country's leading non-profit cancer care centers. He noted that what began as a 100-bed facility has now grown into a 650-bed hospital serving more than three lakh patients annually. Chandrababu also lauded the hospital's commitment to affordable healthcare and expressed hope that it would emerge as India's largest non-profit healthcare institution while continuing to provide world-class treatment to underprivileged patients.
