

Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha extended greetings to the people of Telangana on the occasion of the 11th Ayurveda Day. He said this year’s observance is being held with the theme “Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow”. He stressed the importance of Ayurveda in maintaining health, preventing diseases and promoting a healthy lifestyle. With lifestyle-related diseases on the rise, he called for greater focus on preventive healthcare and urged people to move from “Illness to Wellness” through Ayurveda and yoga. The minister said the state is taking steps to strengthen AYUSH services, including the appointment of around 700 yoga instructors over the past two-and-a-half years and 139 assistant professors in Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Unani. Telangana’s official Health Department lists Damodar Rajanarsimha as the state’s Health, Medical and Family Welfare Minister.
The minister said 50-bed Integrated AYUSH Hospitals have been established in Siddipet, Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Vikarabad districts, while another 50-bed facility is being constructed in Karimnagar at a cost of Rs 15 crore. He said AYUSH hospitals and clinics would be upgraded in phases. House surgeons’ stipends have been increased from Rs 13,754 to Rs 29,792 per month, while PG students’ stipends have been raised from Rs 34,385 to Rs 74,482, he added. Rajanarsimha also called for traditional medical knowledge to be integrated with modern research, scientific evidence and technology. He said providing quality and safe AYUSH healthcare is the government’s objective and warned of strict action against those providing AYUSH treatment without the required qualifications or permissions.
