AP Municipal Elections: Voter List Preparation Begins for 12 Corporations and 29 Municipal Bodies

Preparations for the upcoming municipal elections in Andhra Pradesh have gained momentum. The State Election Commission (SEC) has initiated arrangements for the preparation and publication of ward-wise photo electoral rolls in 12 municipal corporations and 29 municipalities and nagar panchayats. State Election Commissioner Anil Chandra Punetha said two separate notifications have been issued in this regard. The Form-1 notice and ward-wise photo voter lists are scheduled to be published on September 22, using the latest Assembly electoral rolls and January 1, 2026, as the qualifying date.

Of the state’s 17 municipal corporations, voter lists for Vizianagaram Corporation were already published on September 3 after its ward delimitation was completed earlier. Similarly, lists were published on September 3 in 58 of the 106 municipalities and nagar panchayats where delimitation had been completed. Ward delimitation in the remaining 12 corporations and 29 urban local bodies is scheduled to be completed between September 14 and 17. Following a request from the Municipal Administration Department, the SEC has fixed September 22 as the new publication date. The updated voter lists will pave the way for further election preparations, including finalising reservations for mayors, municipal chairpersons and ward members.
