Social media can create the impression that everyone is making crores, achieving overnight success and treating a ₹1 crore net worth as an ordinary financial milestone. However, the reality is very different. According to the figures cited in this analysis, around 88% of people in India have a net worth below ₹10 lakh, while nearly 94% have not crossed the ₹50 lakh mark.
The gap becomes even more significant at the ₹1 crore level. The analysis estimates that around 98.5% of people do not have a net worth of ₹1 crore, indicating how uncommon that level of wealth actually is. Therefore, building a net worth of ₹1 crore represents a significantly higher level of financial accumulation than social media posts may make it appear, rather than being a routine benchmark for the average Indian.
