JSW Enters the Commercial EV Market

JSW Group has entered the commercial electric vehicle market with the launch of its new brand, Ampstar. JSW GreenTech, the group’s commercial EV arm, unveiled the brand on Tuesday and announced plans to manufacture and sell electric trucks and buses. The company has set up a manufacturing plant at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra with an investment of ₹2,500 crore and an annual production capacity of 15,000 vehicles.

JSW Group Managing Director Parth Jindal said the company is interested in supplying electric buses to state road transport corporations under the PM E-Drive scheme and will participate in the related tenders. He also said JSW GreenTech has already entered into agreements with major companies, including Vedanta and Adani, to supply electric tippers and dump trucks.
