Apple has achieved another major milestone by overtaking Nvidia to become the world's most valuable publicly listed company. During trading on the U.S. stock market, Apple's market capitalization briefly crossed $5 trillion, making it only the second company in history to reach this landmark after Nvidia. Apple's share price touched an intraday high of $342.89.
Although the stock eased by the end of the trading session, bringing its market value slightly below the $5 trillion mark, the achievement remains significant. Apple's stock has gained nearly 25% in 2026, supported by steady profitability, disciplined cost management, and a balanced investment strategy despite spending less on artificial intelligence than many of its rivals.
Apple is expected to announce its latest quarterly earnings soon, with analysts forecasting around 15% year on year revenue growth. Meanwhile, Nvidia, which led the market for the past year due to soaring demand for AI GPUs, saw its shares decline by about 5% amid concerns over returns on heavy AI investments.
