The founders of Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories envisioned providing affordable medicines to people across the world, said the company’s Co-Chairman and Managing Director G. V. Prasad. He stated that Kallam Anji Reddy, the founder of the company, believed that medicines should not be produced solely for corporate profits but should remain accessible to the public at reasonable prices. Prasad added that the company continues to operate with the same philosophy even today and it is this approach that has enabled India to supply essential medicines to the global community.
Speaking on the occasion of the 13th death anniversary of Kallam Anji Reddy, G. V. Prasad inaugurated the Dr. Anji Reddy Memorial Lecture on Sunday. K. Satish Reddy, Chairman of Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, said the objective of the program is to bring scientists, researchers, and experts onto a single platform and encourage innovative breakthroughs in medical science. He noted that such memorial lectures inspire new directions in scientific research and contribute to advancements in healthcare.
The keynote speaker at the event was globally renowned cell biologist and researcher Guido Kroemer. He is widely recognized for his pioneering work on programmed cell death (apoptosis), autophagy and cancer resistance. Currently serving as a medical professor at Paris City University, Kroemer delivered a memorial lecture on the topic “A Tissue Stress Hormone Driving Pathological Aging.” The event was also attended by Guru N. Reddy, Founder and Chairman of Continental Hospitals.
