Leading electrification and automation company ABB is taking significant steps in line with the “Make in India” initiative. As part of this effort, the company has announced plans to further expand its manufacturing capabilities in India. ABB also revealed that it will establish advanced Research and Development (R&D) centers and testing laboratories in Hyderabad and Bengaluru. For this initiative, the company plans to invest around $75 million (approximately ₹690 crore) this year.
As part of its capacity expansion, ABB aims to strengthen the production of key equipment and solutions required for electrification, automation systems, renewable energy projects, metro rail networks and data centers. According to ABB India, nearly 85 percent of the equipment sold by the company in India is already manufactured locally. The company further stated that the new R&D centers and testing labs in Hyderabad and Bengaluru are expected to be established later this year.
