Meta Unveils $1,299 VR Glasses: 100-Gram Design, 5K Display and AI-Powered Controls

Meta has unveiled its new Meta VR Glasses, priced at $1,299.99, with a planned US launch in spring 2027. Weighing around 100 grams, the device features a glasses-like design, 5K micro-OLED display, pancake lenses, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. The processing hardware, battery and storage are housed in a separate pocket-sized compute unit connected to the glasses.

The VR glasses are designed for entertainment, gaming and productivity. Users can watch movies on a large virtual screen, create multiple displays for work and play games using eye movements and hand gestures. Meta AI is built into the operating system, allowing users to control apps and search for information through voice, eye and hand inputs. The device will also support immersive sports and 3D entertainment, while its India launch date has not yet been announced.
