Apple’s New Mac Mini and Mac Studio Go on Sale With Powerful Chips for On-Device AI

Apple’s upgraded Mac Mini and Mac Studio models are now available in India, with the company positioning the new desktops as powerful machines for local AI workloads. The Mac Mini comes with M6 and M5 Pro chips, while the Mac Studio is offered with M5 Max and M5 Ultra. The systems can handle tasks such as running AI models, generating code and powering AI agents locally, potentially reducing dependence on cloud-based AI services and their usage limits. Apple also demonstrated multiple Mac Studio systems working together to run a trillion-parameter AI model and identify a graphics coding issue.

The new Mac Mini with M6 starts at Rs 99,990 in India, while the M5 Pro version is priced from Rs 2,09,900. The Mac Studio with M5 Max starts at Rs 2,79,900, while the M5 Ultra model starts at Rs 6,29,900. The M6 Mac Mini features a 12-core CPU, 12-core GPU and dual 16-core Neural Engine, while the M5 Ultra Mac Studio offers up to a 36-core CPU, 80-core GPU and 512GB of unified memory. Apple has also introduced features such as Thunderbolt 5 and RDMA networking, allowing multiple Mac Studio systems to be connected for distributed AI workloads.
