

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget on the auspicious day of Magha Purnima, emphasizing a 7 percent growth trajectory for the Indian economy. Highlighting India’s steps toward global competitiveness, she expressed gratitude to the citizens for supporting the government and reiterated that fulfilling public aspirations remains a top priority. The budget introduces several reforms in line with the Prime Minister’s vision and has been described by the minister as a ‘Youth Power Budget’. Sitharaman outlined three key duties as the focus: achieving inclusive economic growth, ensuring people’s participation in growth, and promoting the principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’.
The budget also emphasizes structural reforms to drive development while maintaining fiscal discipline. Key allocations include Rs. 40,000 crore for the Semiconductor Mission 2.0, Rs. 10,000 crore for the pharma sector, special initiatives for the textile sector including Mega Textile Parks, and support for the Khadi sector through the Mahatma Gandhi Swaraj Scheme. Measures for modernizing existing NIPER institutions and establishing three new NIPERs were also announced. The Finance Minister noted that GST collections in January reached Rs. 1.93 lakh crore and inflation remains moderate, reflecting economic stability.
