Hyderabad: Alcohol sales in Telangana witnessed a massive surge during the New Year celebrations. In just three days, nearly ₹1000 crore worth of alcohol was sold across the state. According to officials, alcohol sales in the past six days amounted to ₹1,350 crore statewide.
Reports indicate that during the three-day period, 8.30 lakh cases of liquor and 7.78 lakh cases of beer were sold. These figures have already surpassed sales recorded in previous years, indicating a significant increase in alcohol consumption during the New Year festivities.
The rise in alcohol sales is attributed to New Year celebrations, festive gatherings, and parties among families and friends. Authorities stated that police and revenue department officials have taken special measures to ensure sales are regulated during this period.
The surge in alcohol sales has also contributed significantly to the state’s revenue. However, officials have cautioned about the social issues associated with excessive alcohol consumption and advised consumers to celebrate safely and adhere to regulations during the New Year festivities.
