Hyderabad Police Commissioner Vishwanath Chennappa Sajjanar has warned that strict action will be taken against anyone violating rules during New Year celebrations on December 31. He announced that special drives against drunken driving will begin from Wednesday, with checks planned at around 100 locations across the city on New Year’s Eve.
The Commissioner cautioned that event organizers as well as participants would face serious consequences if they cross limits or violate regulations. He emphasized that indiscipline could spoil the spirit of welcoming the New Year.
Sajjanar held a video conference with field-level police officials to brief them on the safety measures and guidelines that must be followed. He made it mandatory for event venues to install CCTV cameras and instructed organizers to apply for police permission online.
He also directed that sound systems and loudspeakers in public places must be shut down by 10:00 PM. To ensure women’s safety, 15 She Teams will be deployed in plain clothes during the celebrations.
